Success at Beech Tree Place
The exciting Council-led project in our local area is really beginning to take shape!
This scheme is going to provide 92 new affordable homes, including 35 shared ownership homes.
The phasing and timing of this development has been planned meticulously and despite the original builder going bust, which was unfortunate and unforeseeable, it has progressed apace with the new contractor Bugler. It is on target to be completed on time and on budget!
The GLA, who are part funding the scheme, have said this is the only project in London they are aware of that is staying on programme and budget after losing a main contractor.
This is largely down to the Council acting swiftly to replace the contractor but also due to a rephasing of the project to achieve cost and time efficiencies.
Councillor Christopher Woolmer said “I am incredibly proud that we have been able to keep this project on track to deliver these new affordable homes for our area. I look forward to the June 2026 completion target”.
Luke Taylor MP visited the site last week, along with Cllrs Esak, Woolmer and Short, to see for themselves the great progress the project is making.
Luke Taylor MP said “The pace of construction here is really encouraging and this just serves as yet another reminder of the great track record Sutton Council has in working with key partners to deliver new social housing in the borough”.
