Christmas Card Winner Lights Up Wallington Christmas Festival

Wallington Christmas Festival sparkled even brighter this year as Anya, the winner of Bobby Dean MP’s Christmas Card Competition, switched on the town centre’s Christmas lights.

With a Christmas market, Santa’s Grotto and festive performances by local choirs, the volunteer-run event got everyone into the Christmas spirit and competition-winner Anya took centre stage.

A year 6 student, Anya was the winner of this year’s Christmas card contest, and her winning design will soon arrive in thousands of homes across Carshalton and Wallington.

Joined by her best friend and family, Anya had the honour of officially switching on the Wallington Christmas lights to kick off the festive season!

Speaking about the event, Carshalton & Wallington MP Bobby Dean, said:

“This is always one of my favourite parts of the year. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in organising the festival.

“The talent and creativity on display from the children in my Christmas card competition was great to see, and Anya’s design was a real standout.

“It was a joy to share this moment with her and her family. I’m delighted her artwork will spread festive cheer to so many homes this Christmas!”

The celebrations didn’t end there. The runners-up also received praise for their entries and will enjoy a tour of Parliament with their families, hosted by Bobby Dean MP.
