We must invest in our children’s future

Following reports that nearly 20,000 school buildings are in need of repair across the country, Lib Dem campaigner Bobby Dean has hit out at the Government for failing to invest in our children’s future.

According to a report in The Guardian, as many as nine in ten schools in England are in need of repair with a bill of around £11bn. However, the Government has announced just £1 billion worth of funding - less than 10% of what is required.

Lib Dem Candidate for Carshalton & Wallington, Bobby Dean, said:

“The Government's recent announcement of just £1 billon to repair our crumbling school buildings is a drop in the ocean.

“This is capital spending and so doesn’t affect our public spending deficit in the same awy. It is a clear investment in our children's future. Why is it being neglected?”
