Over 10,000 residents sign petition saying no to ULEZ
A petition launched by Lib Dem-run Sutton Council, calling on the Labour Mayor to halt his ULEZ expansion, has been signed by more than 10,000 people.
Many of Sutton’s residents and businesses are worried about the speed of the rollout, lack of support to switch to compliant vehicles, and the absence of public transport investment.
The petition was announced after a council meeting was organised by the Lib Dems to discuss ULEZ expansion.
Bobby Dean, Liberal Democrat MP candidate for Carshalton & Wallington
“The Lib Dems want to see action on pollution, but any proposal has to be fair and not hit those struggling the hardest – that’s why we can’t support the Mayor’s rushed and unfair ULEZ expansion.
“I hear from local people everyday who are really worried about the impact it’s going to have on them.
“I encourage everyone who is concerned about the expansion to sign the petition.”
