Liberal Democrat candidates pledge to ‘stand up for Sutton’ as General Election announced for July 4th
Liberal Democrat candidates Bobby Dean (Carshalton & Wallington) and Luke Taylor (Sutton & Cheam) will focus on local issues affecting Sutton as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak calls a General Election.
Bobby and Luke will be putting local issues at the heart of their respective campaigns, including action to tackle the cost of living crisis, protect A&E services at St Helier Hospital, and stop sewage being pumped into the River Wandle.
Bobby Dean is standing in Carshalton & Wallington, where the Liberal Democrats are the clear challengers to the Conservatives, finishing just 629 votes behind in the last election in 2019.
In Sutton & Cheam, Luke Taylor will be seeking to regain the seat for the Liberal Democrats. Luke lives in Belmont with his wife and two young sons, and is a well-known local councillor for Sutton West and East Cheam. Residents can trust Luke to work hard for them if elected on July 4th.
Across Britain, the Liberal Democrats are on the up after beating the Conservatives at the May local elections and winning four stunning parliamentary by-election victories since the last General Election.
Lib Dem Candidate for Carshalton and Wallington, Bobby Dean, said:
“For years Carshalton and Wallington has been let down by an out-of-touch Conservative Government that has lurched from crisis to crisis - now it’s time for a change.
“Under the Conservatives, St Helier Hospital has been left to crumble, people’s mortgages and rents have skyrocketed, and water companies have been allowed to pump filthy sewage into the River Wandle.
“Enough is enough. This is our chance to change the country. We must take it.”
Lib Dem Candidate for Sutton and Cheam, Luke Taylor, said:
“It is an honour to have the chance to represent my community of Sutton and Cheam. This Conservative Government have taken Sutton for granted for far too long - now people want change.
“People have to wait far too long for a GP appointment, energy bills have gone through the roof and we are going backwards on the environment.
“If elected, I will stand up for our community. In Sutton, every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for a party that will stand up for our local NHS services, protect the environment, and give people the fair deal they deserve.”
