Lib Dems fight to save St Helier's A&E and Maternity services

Local people betrayed as Tory MP backs cuts to our hospital

Lib Dems are fighting against Government plans to cut vital services at St Helier Hospital, with A&E and Maternity set to be axed.

This comes after the local Conservative MP shocked residents by backing the cuts, with many feeling betrayed by the move.

Cllr Ruth Dombey, Lib Dem Leader of Sutton Council, said:

“Liberal Democrats have a long track record of fighting for St Helier Hospital.

“Over time, we have protected our hospital from closure and secured multi-million pound investment in much-needed repairs to its buildings.

“The local Tory MP, meanwhile, is putting his bosses’ wishes ahead of those of local people.

"Sutton & Cheam deserves better than years of more Tory lies and betrayal.

“We need a hardworking Lib Dem MP who will always stand up for St Helier and do the right thing by local people.
