Lib Dems deliver a hammer blow to the Conservatives at May’s elections
May’s local elections were groundbreaking for the Liberal Democrats.
The party won hundreds of seats and took control of 12 councils – many in nearby Surrey.
Now the focus is on Carshalton & Wallington and Sutton & Cheam – where once again the Conservatives and Lib Dems are set to go head to head, with Labour in a distant third place.
Lib Dem MP candidate for Carshalton & Wallington, Bobby Dean, said:
“These were historic results for the Lib Dems. Areas where the Conservatives have won for generations are crumbling and turning away from them.
“It's clear that the country needs a General Election so the Conservatives can be removed from power.
“Here in Carshalton & Wallington, the Lib Dems are just 629 votes from beating the Conservatives – your vote could be the difference!”
