Lib Dems call for action on Ponds accidents
Local Lib Dem Councillors have launched a petition calling for urgent action to make the road by Carshalton Ponds safer.
Transport for London (TfL), who are responsible for the A232, have ignored local people’s concerns for far too long.
The precariously narrow stretch of the road running from The Greyhound to the junction with North Street is an accident hotspot.
The petition by Councillors Isabel Araujo, Andrew Jenner and Jake Short, urges TfL to:
- Put in a pedestrian crossing between the Greyhound Hotel and Honeywood Museum.
- Improve existing dangerous pedestrian crossings at the Carshalton Road/Park Hill junction of the A232 and on Pound Street.
- Sensitively widen the A232 between the junction with North Street and the Greyhound Hotel, by removing a section of redundant pavement, and bring in measures to prevent cars knocking into the Pond railings.
