Energy giants rake in BILLIONS while local families struggle
Big energy companies are continuing their run of making bumper profits despite the ongoing cost of living crisis.
In May, BP reported staggering £4 billion profits for the first three months of 2023.
Lib Dems have called on the Conservative Government to introduce a proper windfall tax on company profits to fund a cut to energy bills.
Bobby Dean, who is running to be Carshalton & Wallington’s next MP, said:
“While so many people spent the winter facing the choice between heating or eating, the oil and gas giants are making unexpected and excessive profits.
“The Conservative Government is letting the oil and gas giants get away with exploiting struggling families and small businesses.
“They are so out of touch.
“The Government needs to bring in a proper windfall tax and use the money raised to cut people’s energy bills.”
