Development “not good enough for Sutton”
An application to add two new storeys to Northumberland House on Brighton Road has been challenged by local Councillors.
The proposal went to the Planning Inspectorate for a decision and your Councillors attended the hearing.
Sutton South Councillor Richard Clifton said:
“While we need more housing, we did not think the design was good enough for Sutton as it looked like two portacabins plonked on top of the building.
“We were delighted that the Inspector used our language in their report, rejecting the proposed plan as ‘incongruous’.
“We understand the owners are bringing forward a new proposal -- rest assured that your local Councillors will remain vigilant.”
