Councillors highlight child poverty in Sutton

2 Mar 2023

Stonecot Councillors Rob and Cumar raised concerns about child poverty and lack of child nutrition in our borough at January’s Full Council meeting.

It is estimated that eight children in every class of 30 is living in poverty in Sutton.

Cllr Rob Beck, Lib Dem Councillor for Stonecot, said:

“We put forward a motion to help tackle these issues by calling on the Government to fund Sutton fairly.

“The motion was passed, but not one single Conservative Councillor supported it -- that is really shocking.

“Stonecot backed Cumar and I on the promise that we would stand up for our area.

“We will continue to work hard for you and ensure Stonecot is represented with integrity.”
