Conservative MP backs cuts to St Helier Hospital
The Conservative Government has recommitted to its plan to cut St Helier Hospital's A&E and Maternity services, with the local Tory MP backing the cuts.
This comes as the Government announced a further delay to building a new hospital in the borough.
Lib Dems say Put St Helier First
Lib Dem MP candidate Bobby Dean has slammed the Conservatives for betraying our local hospital and demanded that their Government ‘Put St Helier First’.
“It is astonishing that the local Tory MP is backing cuts to A&E and Maternity services at St Helier -- it is completely out of touch with what local people have been saying.
“The Lib Dems are clear -- we will Put St Helier First. We will continue the fight for a new urgent care building that keeps A&E and Maternity at St Helier and press for desperately needed upgrades to our local hospital.
“Patients and staff are regularly hit by ward closures, broken lifts and flooding.
“Enough is enough. St Helier is a special case and needs treating as an urgent priority.
"We must safeguard its services and secure the investment our hospital needs.”
