BREAKING POINT: Shocking stats uncovered by the Lib Dems reveal the crisis facing our NHS
New figures have revealed the extent of the NHS crisis in Carshalton and Wallington.
At St Helier Hospital, 574 people waited over 12 hours to be seen in December, while patients waited an average of 1 hour 23 minutes for an ambulance.
Local surgeries have been hit too, with 101,914 people waiting over two weeks to see their GP.
The NHS crisis comes after a decade of mismanagement and under-funding by the Conservative government.
There are now serious concerns about the Conservative plan to cut St Helier’s A&E department.
Bobby Dean, who is campaigning to be Carshalton & Wallington’s next MP said:
“The Liberal Democrats have been fighting for investment in St Helier for years, but the Tories have ignored the warning signs and are taking vital services away when we need them most.
“Seriously ill patients are waiting hours to be seen and people can’t get an appointment with their GP.
"It’s simply not good enough. We need proper investment in our local NHS”.
