Bobby on Ukraine: “Be kinder to refugees fleeing war and less kind to oligarchs bankrolling it”
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Carshalton & Wallington, Bobby Dean, has called on the UK to show more compassion towards Ukrainian refugees and to disentangle itself from Russian oligarchs who are bankrolling the war in Ukraine.
Bobby criticised the Conservative Government for attaching too many conditions on Ukrainian refugees, stating that he has "no idea why the UK is alone in Europe" in doing so. "Where is the compassion?" he asked.
Bobby also called for the UK to be "kinder to refugees fleeing war and less kind to oligarchs bankrolling it." He expressed concern about the role of London lawyers and PR firms in profiting from dirty money and urged for stronger regulations to address the problem.
"Meek defences like 'We fully comply with UK regulations' only demonstrate how badly those regulations need to change," he said. "We must stop this moral blindness to the super-rich."
Bobby emphasised that the Liberal Democrats are committed to promoting the rights of refugees and will work towards a more just and equitable society. "Our values of compassion and fairness demand that we do more to support those in need and to hold the wealthy and powerful to account," he said. "We will continue to fight for a better future for all."
